Here’s What Happened

It’s an ordinary day.

I met a stranger.

He was nice. No hint of arrogance.

He sounded smart. Indeed, he really was.

I trusted him. Opened up to him.

Built a friendship like no other.

Became my favorite person.

Some days I look for reasons why we’ve met.

Reasons for why things happened.

Perchance to save me?

To offer me wisdom perhaps?

To teach me a lesson?

To hold me to keep me from falling?

Or to protect me from deeper pain?

I knew I might love this person.

But I also knew he’s not mine to keep.

It may be he didn’t come to save me.

But just to teach me save myself.

And eventually I learned how.

Then he started to drift away.

Just like that.

No explanation.

No goodbye.

Until we’re strangers once again.

  1. I know that sometimes things do not make sense at all with how life is and how people are altogether; we need to focus on the blessings in our lives and then deal with our lessons.

  2. Wow! superb…….In this case I am kind of fevicol… Firstly I don’t allow strangers to enter my zone, and if I do then I make sure they don’t leave….And if they try to, I prefer to drag them to a chair and tie them hard so that they don’t get a chance to go….Did I sounded a villain thing???,,😎😎😎…I can’t stand people see leaving me😥😥😥😥😥….

  3. Such a heartfelt and moving poem! Sometimes things aren’t meant to be forever. Just long enough to bring you some joy and teach you the lessons you need to learn at that time, right? I read that from a very wise woman who post this on her blog:

Not everything is supposed to become something beautiful and long-lasting. Sometimes people come into your life to show you what is right and what is wrong, to show you who you can be, to teach you to love yourself, to make you feel better for a little while, or to just be someone to walk with at night and spill your life to. Not everyone is going to stay forever, and we still have to keep on going and thank them for what they’ve given us.

    1. Nice! And yeah, I think people really come in and out of our lives for our reason and not everyone’s meant to stay… no matter how much they mean to us.
