Top 5 Tuesday – Books with Doorways

Happy Tuesday, Homo sapiens! Welcome to this week’s Top 5 Tuesday!

Top 5 Tuesday was originally hosted by Shanah at Bionic Bookworm and now found its home with Meeghan at Meeghan Reads.

Books with Doorways

As a reader, magical doorways is one of my favorite tropes. When a character finds a magical door and a different world on the other side very much intrigues me and sets my imagination at work. Here are the five books I’ve read with magical doorways:

alicesadventureinwonderland

As a child, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was a top favorite. Alice passed through several doorways starting with that rabbit hole!

alibabaandthefortythieves

The Tale of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves was a book shared to me by my elder brother when we were children. “Open Sesame” and the door will open to a cave full of treasures!

thefellowshipofthering

Remember the doors of Durin? Now I’m not quite sure if it was first mentioned in The Fellowship of the Ring (forgive me!) but as Gandalf translated it to the others, “The Doors of Durin, Lord of Moria. Speak “friend” and enter.” This is one of my favorite doors!

thelionthewitchandthewardrobe

One of the most well-known magical doorways — the wardrobe door to Narnia!

coraline

Coraline and her family moved to a new house where she discovered a key to a locked door in their living room. Spooky story but makes us realize that an imperfect world is a fine thing.

What magical doorways have you encountered while reading?
